What surfaces can accept this application? What surface preparation is necessary? Mop, wire brush or power wash surfaces to remove dirt, grease and loose particles. Prepare all cracks, patches, low spots using Seams-Perfect products as per specs. Cracks 1/4" and wider should be should cleaned then filled with SeamsPerfect Philly-Putty. No grinding is necessary. Narrower cracks may be ignored all together. Repaired cracks, floor-wall bends and seams, protrusions, etc., should be bandaged with 4”, 6”, or 12” size patching fabric as situation requires. To bandage small areas pre-cut fabric to size and apply in same manner as deck fabric. How many square feet does SeamsPerfect Base Coat cover? For use as a waterproofing membrane, SeamsPerfect covers approximately 40 sq. ft. per gallon. As a universal overlay primer, approximately 200-300 sq. ft. per gallon, depending on porosity of the substrate.
How is SeamsPerfect Base Coat applied? As a waterproofing membrane, apply SeamsPerfect to an area no wider than the Polytex fabric you are embedding, and by a length of approx two feet. Apply enough product so that it penetrates and primes the substrate, leaving a slight puddle. Unroll Polytex fabric 2-3 feet into wet area. Working from the center out to the edges. Use hands, brush or roller to smooth out the fabric, forcing the base coat to come up through the material. Leave no wrinkles or air pockets. Apply a second coat on top of fabric and roll flat until no white fabric is visible. Adjacent fabric overlaps should be approximately 3”. What is the cure time? Typical cure time before skim coat is approximately twelve hours. Keep open container out of direct sunlight. Product will dry faster on hot days and may be thinned slightly with water if needed. Product will not cure during high humidity. How many coats are needed when using as a universal primer? SeamsPerfect Base Coat usually requires only one skim coat overlay. Is SeamsPerfect Base Coat difficult to cleanup after application? Cleanup before product dries with water. After cure product is waterproof and may only be mechanically removed, if at all. What materials comprise the SeamsPerfect Base Coat system? The Base Coat system is a created by sandwiching Polytex Fabric between two layers of Base Coat Primer/Sealer/Adhesive.
